The relation ship between the demographic-sociological characteristic and health promotion behavior of the elderly

Abstract
In order to identify the relation ship between the demographic-sociological characteristic of the elderly who are over 65 years in Korea and their health promotion behavior, data studied in the fourth Korea national health and nutrition examination survey by the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention(KCDC) were used for secondary analysis. In the study, among health promotion behaviors of the elderly, the significant factor to affect smoking and drinking was their spouses, and weight controlling was affected by their ages, jobs and health conditions. Physical activities were affected by their ages and housing types and oral health was affected by their health conditions. Their ages and health conditions affected mental health. In conclusion, health promotion behavior of the elderly were affected by the various demographic-sociological characteristic but controlling health promotion behavior of the elderly by managing demographic-sociological characteristic is difficult under korea``s social conditions. However, if it is possible to increase the income level of the elderly by offering them suitable jobs which are important factors to the elderly, they would be able to have much more opportunities to enjoy diverse health-care benefits as well as have chances to part in social activities and finally they may reach to and remain in much higher health conditions.
